Lana‘i Resorts, LLC Announces Senior Leadership Team
HONOLULU – Lāna‘i Resorts, LLC today announced the appointment of six new members to its senior leadership team.
Those appointed are:
Arlan Chun, vice president of development and construction. Chun will head all Lāna‘i Resorts planning, development and construction activities. Chun has experience in development and construction in both Hawai‘i and San Francisco. Most recently, he was regional development manager at OliverMcMillan, which developed and built the Pacifica Honolulu condominium in Kaka‘ako. Chun also was director of Residential & Amenity Development DMB Associates Inc./Kukui‘ula Development Company (Hawaii), LLC on Kaua‘i.
Chun has an MBA from the University of Hawai‘i and a master’s degree in construction and engineering management from Stanford University.
Kepa Maly, vice president of culture and historic preservation. Maly will supervise all activities related to archaeological and cultural surveys, as well as share his knowledge of Lāna‘i with staff members, residents and guests at the resorts. He will be involved in creating an integrated plan that honors the rich cultural legacy of Lāna‘i and ensures sustainable growth opportunities that will be respectful of the Island, its history and its people.
Maly was raised on O‘ahu and Lāna‘i and graduated from Lāna‘i High and Elementary School. He and his wife, Onaona Pomroy Maly, have focused their lives on documenting Hawaiian cultural practices and traditions. In 1995 they formed Kumu Pono Associates LLC to research and write documentaries about Hawaiian culture, conduct oral histories, and develop Hawaiian heritage preservation and cultural resourses management plans across Hawai‘i.
Maly worked with the Lāna‘i community to establish the Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center, a nonprofit community museum and stewardship organization, and he served as its executive director. He is highly sought after and respected as an expert on historical and ethnographic studies.
Lesley Kaneshiro, vice president of finance. Kaneshiro has been handling all financial operations during the transition in ownership from Castle & Cooke to Lāna‘i Island Holdings, LLC. For more than eight years, Kaneshiro served in various executive capacities for Island Air, including as chief executive officer, chief financial officer, vice president of finance and controller. She also served as director of treasury services for Aloha Airlines, Inc.
Kaneshiro is a member of the Hawai‘i Society of Certified Public Accountants and Financial Executives International, and was a finalist in Pacific Business News’ “Women Who Mean Business” competition.
She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawai‘i and a master’s degree in business administration from Chaminade University.
Kimberly Miyazawa Frank, vice president of human resources and community development. Frank most recently served as chief operating officer of the YWCA of O‘ahu. Before joining the YWCA, she had a 20-year career in organizational development, working for global management consulting firms including The Gallup Organization and Towers Perrin, a human resources and financial services consulting firm.
She has served on several community boards, including the Honolulu Symphony, the Organ Donor Center of Hawai‘i, St. Andrew’s Priory and the Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Hawai‘i.
Frank was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated from the University of Hawai‘i, has a master’s degree from Miami University and a law degree from Rutgers School of Law.
Lynn McCrory, vice president of government affairs. McCrory will interact with state and county government elected officials and department heads and will supervise Lāna‘i Resorts’ Maui office. McCrory served for nearly 25 years as part-owner and president of PAHIO Development, Inc., which oversaw the operations of multiple companies and development projects on Kaua‘i. She was also president and CEO of PAHIO Resorts, Inc., responsible for managing timeshare resorts in Hawai‘i, Washington, Oregon and Colorado.
McCrory serves on the Hawai‘i Pacific Health board and chairs the Wilcox Memorial Hospital board. She also has served on the Hawai‘i Hurricane Relief Fund Board, Hawai‘i Board of Land and Natural Resources, Zephyr Insurance Co. and the Kaua‘i County Board of Water Supply.
Suzanne Yamada, executive assistant and office manager for Lāna‘i Resorts’ O‘ahu office. Yamada performed a similar role with Castle & Cooke and most recently was executive administrative assistant to the headmaster of ‘Iolani School.
