Executive Chef Debuts in Kailua
KAILUA, Hawaii – Executive Chef has opened for business at the Kailua Town Center – Phase 3 redevelopment project, better known to local residents as the site of the Whole Foods Market, which will anchor the Center and will open in several months.
Executive Chef is leasing 4,559 square feet of retail space and features an extensive collection of cookware, bakeware, barware, cutlery and gadgets. “This is an exciting time for us as we are opening our second store in a very special town,” said Executive Chef owner Jim Russo, whose flagship store is at Ward Warehouse. “Our customers in Kailua have been anticipating our opening, and we look forward to having them stop in to see ‘what’s cooking’ and meet our friendly staff.”
“The opening of Executive Chef launches what will be a vibrant mix of retailers at the third phase of Kailua Town Center,” said Kimo Steinwascher, vice president of leasing and development for Kaneohe Ranch. “The popular clothing boutique Fighting Eel has also opened, and Whole Foods is on track to open next spring.”
The retail shops at Kailua Town Center – Phase 3 occupy 32,000 square feet and are housed in a structure that features Hawaiian-style pitched roofs, board-and-batten siding and wood shakes. The tropical landscape already boasts a 10-by-18-foot “Living Wall,” facing Kailua Road, which is a rich tapestry of Native Hawaiian plants of varying colors and textures. There will also be art in the garden, as public art in downtown Kailua remains a priority for Kaneohe Ranch. The Center will also feature wide, meandering sidewalks, ample outdoor seating, a trellised open-air dining area, improved parking and a new connection – Hinano Way – from Kailua Road to Hekili Street.
Kailua Town Center – Phase 3 is at the corner of Kailua Road and Hinano Way and has been designed to incorporate community input to the master plan for Kailua Town.
Kaneohe Ranch manages the real estate owned by the family business entities of Harold K.L. Castle and Alice H. Castle and their nonprofit charitable foundation, the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. The portfolio consists of major landholdings in Kailua as well as other properties on Oahu and the U.S. mainland. The Kailua properties include commercial, retail, office, industrial and residential leasehold parcels.
